Lost Boys

26 Mar

I heard the Lost Boys of Sudan speak at school this week.

It was an incredible talk, not surprisingly. They told the story of their journey from Sudan to Ethiopia to Kenya, where they lived in a camp for 10 years before being granted access to the United States. Two of the boys spoke about the non-profit they started, Lost Boys Rebuilding Southern Sudan, which is raising money to build schools in Sudan.

I was of course reminded of mid first semester when Reba told me she had been venting about work to her mom, who replied “well at least you don’t live in Sierra Leone.” Nothing like hearing from people who have survived a genocide to give a little perspective to life.

Wow. I’m so jealous. Sounds great. I’m almost finished reading “What is the What” – have you read it? INCREDIBLE.
