White House Madness

19 Mar

Happy Round 1 Day!

I am obsessed with this video of Obama filling out his March Madness bracket: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney09/columns/story?columnist=katz_andy&id=3991859 (sorry, can’t figure out how to embed it)

[Note: please do not watch Coach K’s response. He sounds like a huge a**hole and it literally made me cringe.]

Andy Katz from ESPN went to the White House to watch the Prez fill out his bracket – in what was I’m sure a welcome break from, you know, saving the world (for Obama, not Katz). The President seriously knows his stuff. Duke got a bunch of great shout outs, courtesy of Reggie Love. [Kyle Singler, you better earn that Presidential mention this weekend]. The best is how Obama picks teams not just for their basketball ability, but throws in a little “this state voted for me” to his decisions.

So here’s his final bracket:

We have the same Final Four! You’ll note that he has UNC winning (shockingly I do not). While this was a little disappointing to see, I think it serves a healthy dose of reality that our president may not be 100% perfect. But, if him picking the Tarheels is the price we have to pay for health care, choice, education, and all that other great stuff, well I might be ok with that.

Apparently the Coach K quote was taken out of context: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/ncaatourney09/news/story?id=4001714 . It seems a lot better with the sentences he said afterward included in the story. Plus, his comments afterward were respectful.

    Order is restored.
